Kevin Behrendt, Partner

Kevin Behrendt specializes in complex business litigation, municipal litigation, commercial contracts, and personal injury claims. Kevin has achieved favorable litigation results for clients ranging from large multi-national conglomerates to local entrepreneurs. He has represented clients in federal and state courts and before a variety of administrative bodies. He has considerable experience in all phases of litigation the areas of traditional business disputes, including claims arising from contracts and business fraud, labor and employment issues, intellectual property rights, and consumer law.

Kevin acts as general counsel to various companies offering corporate, transaction, and litigation counsel. Kevin serves as general counsel for the SoCal Mobile Food Vendors Association, the largest trade association in the emerging mobile vending industry. Kevin has obtained favorable results on behalf of the Association in several economic civil-right lawsuits against California municipalities resulting in the repeal of the challenged municipal code sections and attorney's fees. Kevin has similarly engaged with many public entities to repeal and revise restrictive laws throughout Southern California on behalf of the Association.

Kevin is active in his community, serving as President of the Gondolier Booster Club of his alma mater, Venice High School. Kevin has also served as a pro bono lawyer for Public Counsel of Los Angeles. Public Counsel is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing equal justice under law by delivering free legal and social services to the most vulnerable members of our communities.

Kevin received his B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1996 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2000.; Kevin is admitted to practice in California, as well as before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the US District Courts for the Central, Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of California. Prior to founding Dermer Behrendt, Kevin was an associate with the law firm of Jones Day in its Los Angeles office.
